New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane

Other Worldly Dream Opens 2014 Season

SFT: The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane logoIn a quest to bring audiences something truly different, the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane will present William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream as a feast for the eyes, heart, and funny bone, says a company announcement. With the help of new technology, viewers will be led from an elegant but earthbound palace into a magical forest where some of the inhabitants may not be bound by anything at all. It will be a world where even the fools are enchanting. Performances will run from June 14–July 12, 2014.

After last year's smash run, the Festival will remount The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), which takes the audience on an uproarious and irreverent romp through all of The Bard's plays. Critics and audiences raved about it, so don't miss this chance for the best laugh you'll have all summer. The show will run from June 22–July 19, 2014.

The Festival is honored to announce that it will be one of a small number of Shakespeare Festivals in North America to be visited by a team from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. On July 10, the team will give presentations about its work and the work of the Trust, the organization responsible for the conservation of many of the world's most important Shakespeare heritage sites.

Additionally, on June 18 and July 7 the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane will feature two unique evenings of Shakespearean readings with a twist. Further details will unfold as the season draws near.

To close out the summer, students of the Gavin Mahlie All Things Shakespeare Training Program will present a full production of Twelfth Night from July 31–Aug. 3, 2014.
