The Redlands Shakespeare Festival in California is planning a “Season of Gender” for its ninth annual season next May, featuring a look into gender roles in the theater and society.
Of course that means The Taming of the Shrew, but, true to its Elizabethan origin, it will be performed by an all-male cast. On the other hand, Julius Caesar will have an all-female cast. Then the male and female members of the company will reunite for Shakespeare's most sweeping war between the sexes, Love's Labours Lost.
