Shakespeare in the Vines
Auditions Set for Austen Anniversary Show
In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's publication of Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare in the Vines in Temecula, Calif., will be producing a play version of the romantic novel Sept. 12–21 at the Briar Rose Winery. Directing will be Missie Van Beeber. Rebecca Weering, president of the Southern California Jane Austen Society, is assisting.
The special production caps a season which features The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), which just closed, Henry IV, Parts One and Two in July, and The Taming of the Shrew in August.
The theater has put out an audition call for Sunday, July 14, from 3–5 p.m., and Monday, July 15, 7–8:30 p.m., at the Inland Valley Classical Ballet Theatre, 41760 Rider Way, Temecula CA 92590. Twenty-plus roles will be cast. Auditioners should have a prepared monologue and be ready to read from the script.
